Overview
When completing a mission, testers may take different paths than the expected one you set. You can add multiple expected paths for a mission to record all paths as direct success.
Maze records every path a tester takes and categorizes them into:
- Direct success: tester takes the same path you set
- Indirect success: tester takes an undefined path but reaches final screen
- Give up / bounce: tester leaves your maze or gives up mission.
But if a mission has more than one correct way to be completed, you might want to add different expected paths.
All expected paths you define for a mission will be used to measure the success metric in Maze.
What to know before you set expected paths for a mission
- Set a minimum of two screens for every path
- You can change the start screen of all expected paths in the first path
- The last screen of any path shouldn't be reused during a path. More about this here.
How to add multiple paths to a mission
You can add multiple paths when you create your missions:
- Importing a prototype
- Creating missions in draft mode
- For every mission, you can add as many expected paths as you need
Consult our guide on creating your first maze.
Analyzing paths in your maze report
When you have more than one direct path to complete a mission, you can choose the path you want to analyze in your maze report:
- Open your maze report
- Go to mission card
- Choose the path you want to analyze under Active path or by clicking on the path in the report
